Rare House with Garden and Terrace

Our unique home is situated in the centre of the village of Maureillas-Las-Illas.
The local ceramic artist who bought the 'grange' and turned it into a beautiful home told us it was originally used to produce apple juice around a 100 years ago. It certainly has a lot of character with its stone walls and high ceiling (up to 5 meters upstairs!) and the beautiful massive original wood beams.

You enter through the big iron gates into the courtyard which can also serve for parking. On the left there is a covered raised area which we use for entertainment. When you come into the Front Downstairs Space, on the left, there is a bedroom, a space which can be turned into an ensuite bathroom and a separate WC. This leads to the Huge Back Downstairs Space which I use as a studio. From the studio there are two large doors leading to the garden.

Back inside, you come up the stairs into the vast open-plan living space with a stunning mezzanine made by the artist who converted the house. The space includes a sitting area, dinning area and a kitchen.
Going down a few steps is the sleeping quarter. Originally there were 4 rooms on this floor. We have created the master bedroom from 2 rooms, there is a further double bedroom and a single room/office/walk-in wardrobe. There is a low ceiling mezzanine, a storage area, a separate WC and a bathroom with a separate shower.
From the hallway there is a door to a huge terrace with gorgeous views over the Canigou, the highest peak in the Pyrenees.
